The effect of oxygen concentration on CO yields in fires

چکیده
In addition to global ventilation effects on fires, vitiation of air is a ventilation related phenomenon that can also affect the generation of chemical species in a built environment. The paper is a contribution to the study on the subject. Experiments -were performed at lab-scale with the Fire Propagation Apparatus in order to study the effect of air vitiation on the CO yield. Results are also presented for the fuel burning rate. Both carbon dioxide and nitrogen -were used as diluents in the inlet airflows. The oxygen concentration was decreased stepwise until the extinction point was reached. A first set of experiments was performed in well-ventilatedfire conditions (equivalence ration between 0.1 and 0.25). A second set of experiments was carried out in under-ventilated fire conditions (equivalence ratio equal to 1.1). The results revealed useful for improving the combustion sub-model predictions in a zone model under development.

Effect of Cobalt Concentration on Structural and Magnetic Properties of Co-Fe Thin Films
Co-Fe films were electrodeposited on Cu substrate from electrolytes with different Co concentration levels. X-ray diffraction (XRD) was used to investigate the films crystal structures. The results indicate that if the Co concentration is less that the Fe concentration, the cubic structure appears in the films, while the hexagonal structure dominates when the C...
متن کاملEffect of Dissolved Oxygen and Chemical Oxygen Demand to Nitrogen Ratios on the Partial Nitrification/Denitrification Process in Moving bed Biofilm Reactors
Partial nitrification was reported to be technically feasible and economically favorable, especially for wastewaterwith high ammonium concentration or low C/N ratio. In this study, the effect of dissolved oxygen (DO)and influent ratio of chemical oxygen demand to nitrogen (COD/N) ratio on biological nitrogen removal fromsynthetic wastewater was investigated. Experiments were c...
متن کاملOperating condition effect on achieving higher propene yield in propane oxidative dehydrogenation process
Supported vanadia catalyst was successfully synthesized using wet impregnation of gamma-Alumina to study Propane Oxidative Dehydrogenation (POD). The prepared catalysts were characterized with XRD, BET, and TPR tests. In a broad temperature range (340 to 630°C), effects of vanadia loading (2.7, 5.4, and 9 wt%) and propane to oxygen ratio (3/1 to 1/3) were investigated on propane conversion as w...
